Poughkeepsie by Mrs. TheKing - here is the author's description: AU. Bella is at the train station when a homeless man gets attacked. Even if the other train passengers can turn their backs on 'Crazy', the man that pretends to play piano on cardboard, Bella can't.Please pay close attention to the VERY FIRST thing the author says about this story - AU - That means Alternate Universe and there has never, in all the stories I have read, ever been a story that has utilized a more accurate description.
I LOVE THIS STORY!!!! It is almost complete, so now is a good time to start reading it, by the time you get to the end it should be finished. This story has 66 chapters to it's credit. Yes, I said 66. When my good friend Meadow, from Twilight-Headed http://www.twilightheaded.com/ , recommended this story - I, of course, went straight and started reading it before looking at the length. OMG 66 is a lot of chapters. My friend Meadow said "But they are short", which is true in the beginning, but as the story moves forward, the chapters get longer. And like fine wine, this story gets better with age. Poughkeepsie builds beautifully to a climax that is completely shocking. You will need to read this one for yourself - It is so worth your time.
Let me just pique your interest just a little and give you the cast of characters: Bella is a normal college student studying psychology. She is engaged to the PRICK of the WORLD Mike Newton. Her sister Alice is VERY Promiscuous. Then there is a Homeless man with beautiful green eyes named Edward. Jasper is a Priest in Training. Emmit is a Drug Lord King Pin. And sweet Rosalie is a trained assassin. You mix this bunch up and put them into the tiny town of Poughkeepsie and you have a recipe for a wonderful story that keeps you wondering what will happen next. I highly recommend Poughkeepsie to you - and it is not just a chic fic - this one can be enjoyed by the men too. There are a couple of chapters that are a little hard to read due to violence - but that just enhances the story and makes it that much better. Not a lot of lemons in this one, but I have a feeling that there might be one big one before she is completely finished with it.

Jasper a priest in training. That kills me. I swear I am going to hell just for thinking about what I would do to him with a priest's collar around his neck.
I'm so glad you're spreading the Poughkeepsie love! I love reading your reviews, I'm in love with your blog dear!
I have heard so many great things about this story and still not started it, but since you say it's worth it, I will make time.
I put off reading this story as well. I kept reading the summary and "The Soloist" kept popping into my mind.(the jamie fox movie you know?) Anyway, I really despise fanfics that are just ripoffs of something else. In a moment of weakness, I decided to give it a shot. I was really glad I did. I should know by now not to judge a story from its summary, but i still manage to deprive myself from great stories because I dismiss them at first glance. Love the story. Kinda out there, but it made it really entertaining.
So one of my chapter updates this morning reminded me of a story I think you would like. I'm reading the sequel right now, so the first one is complete. I know you prefer Canon, but you will like this one, I swear. Plus, its not one of the super popular fics, which is always a draw for me. I like finding gems. Its called "First Love Lost" by Oracle Vas. Like yourself I read alot of fanfiction. I hate to admit, but sometimes it all seems to bleed together. Its like each fic has the same sob story as the last. So it really takes a creative twist from the author to surprise me. This story is intiquing, and its characters are deep. You think you have them all figured out, but you don't. YOu realize this even more when you get to the sequel. Though the first story ends well, your dying to find out what happens. Most stories should never spawn a sequel, it would be over kill. But this one is by far not an example of that.
The relationship between the two characters in First Love Lost is addicting. He makes you love him, but at the same time you want Bella to run the other way. It borderlines unhealthy. But its just a trainwreck you can't look away from. The author does a VERY good job of making you feel sorry for the puppet master, and you can't help but root for the relationship to succeed.

You'll be very bummed when the story ends, but just remember it only gets better with the sequel. The sequel is on chapter 25, and I have a feeling its close to being done aswell, so you won't have to wait very long. It opens up a whole new can of worms I can't even begin to go into right now.
