Let's see how AddiCakes describes her fic shall we? A waitress's pain, a bartender's secrets, & one fateful night. Normally I have a friend who sends me an e-mail who says "Please read this fic" or I am on Twitter and all my little friends are talking about a fic that I haven't read and I am compelled - or maybe I'm on Twilighted and I see one of those blinky things and it looks interesting so I read that fic. None of these is how I found Olympic Rain and Novocain. I was on Twitter chatting with my friends - one of which is AddiCakes. And she said "Writing Chapter 24". I was intrigued. I didn't know she wrote and I thought she was about my age and I wanted to see what her story was all about. So I went to her profile page and saw the link and found the story all by myself. So, it's really important to put a link to your story WHEREVER you can, because people really pay attention to that stuff and you never know who is looking at it. In this process, I found out that Addicakes is Southern and NO WHERE NEAR my age, in fact I am old enough to be her Mama - but that didn't stop me for a minute from enjoying her Awesome Story!

This story is very Angsty - in fact, I can't believe I didn't make Snshyne read it instead of me. I was just so DRIVEN! It is what we, in the reviewing world, like to describe as a "slow burn". I read the whole story in one day. The chapters start out REALLY SHORT and end up about average length. The story is told basically from Bella's point of view. We find out that she is extremely unhappy, not only with her living arrangements, but she doesn't really like her job and she hates the girl she works with (Jessica) and she is there because of a loss in her family. She is basically stuck in a monumental RUT and doesn't know how to climb her way out of it. She basically has no support system (or none that she knows how to tap into) and she is doing a lot of wallowing in her own misery.

Then there is Edward, who is really a messed up piece of precious man meat. He is tending bar for his Uncle Carlisle and his cousin Alice is the cocktail waitress. He lives across the street from the bar and basically is living in his own little bubble. One that he has been in for entirely too long because of several losses in his family. He is lonely and doing a lot of wallowing in his own misery himself.

One night an attack on Bella brings these two miserable people together. Bella finds someone who she can lean on and Edward finds someone who can understand his pain - Are they both too messed up to enjoy what is staring them right in the eyes? You will have to read the story and find out. AddiCakes makes no secret that she is a new fan fiction author. In this story we read her first lemon (oohhh and mabe even Bella's first lemon). I think that Addicakes is very talented. I have enjoyed reading her story and I am really looking forward to the next update to see how this all plays out. She ends chapter 23 with a little bit of a cliffy and it is making me a little nervous.

I think you should give AddiCakes a read and see if you love her as much as I do! I find her writing refresihingly honest and quite enjoyable. If you are looking for a fresh read this one is for you!

Christmas Party at Southern Fan Fiction Review

All three girls are sitting behind their laptops at one big table enjoying their updates while waiting for the party to begin. Sandy is at the Head of the table Meadow and Snshyne are across from each other. The room is festively decorated and the girls are looking fabulous. Sandy has on her black mini dress and 5 inch heels, Meadow is wearing a royal blue number and I can see more skin than blue. Her heels are as high as Sandy’s and then there is Snshyne. She comes by her name honestly; she is wearing an orange and yellow dress with a slit in the side all the way up and gold sparkly high heels. I think all three girls are ready for the festivities. Sandy finishes her updates and stands – she clears her throat…


SANDY “I just wanted to thank you girls for all your hard work on SFFR this past year. You girls have helped me through lots of tough times. Times without updates are the worst – and then there was “The Rain Season” scare. When I wouldn’t read the update for fear that it would be too Angsty… It was you Snshyne that pulled me through that one. Meadow you have been there when I couldn’t find another story to read, I always turned to “Storytime with Meadow”. You girls have been a God Send to me…”

SNSHYNE “Where are the strippers…?”








MEADOW “Shhh Snshyne, Have another Double Grey Goose L’Orange with Cranberry and Lime. That thing is Delicious! You say you call it the Alice Cullen…”






SNSHYNE “Yeah – The Alice Cullen, Sometimes I just say “AC”. The bartender at my favorite hangout knows what I mean”







Meadow gets up and walks over to the stereo that Sandy has had brought in for the party. She turns on a little music and hears someone in the other room that sounds a lot like Emmett… “You ready for me Girls??” Snshyne and Meadow both SCREAM and shout at the same time “Yeah, come on in...” Sandy walks to the hallway and very sweetly reminds Emmett that she will let him know when it’s time to come out. She turns around and clears her throat again. Meadow scurries to her seat grabbing the plate of cookies on her way back.


MEADOW *whispers* “Have you tried the “Jane can kick your ass Raspberry Thumbprint Cookies?” as she crams another one in her mouth.







SNSHYNE *whispers and takes a big sip of her drink* “No, I’m too busy with the Boston Baked Berry Brees, Sandy can bake her Ass off.”






SANDY “As I was saying, I just wanted to have this little Holiday Celebration to say ‘Thanks’ for all your hard work and I have a couple of surprises for each of you. Have you been good this year girls?”





Both girls sit up straight and nod their heads looking like little angles. Meadow takes a BIG sip of her Rosalieto. (Which is what she calls a Mojito because she loves Rosalie’s bad ass attitude.) Meadow has a ‘thing’ for the tough girls.


SANDY “Ok – shall we get down to the nitty gritty?”







SNSHYNE – “Where are the strippers…?”






SANDY *glares at Snshyne and continues* “Snshyne you have been such a good friend to me on Twitter and gchat and I appreciate you joining our little team here at SFFR. I know how much you love TNGUS by AngryBadgerGirl. Snshyne claps her hands and bounces up and down doing her best ‘Alice Cullen’ impression. “So as a Gift to you, TNGUS will be one of our Entertainers this afternoon. And you will be allowed to take him home and spend one night with him. He will be gone when you wake up.” Snshyne jumps up and runs to Sandy throwing her arm around her and kissing her cheek and cries “Thank you Sandy, Thank YOU!”

As Snshyne makes her way back to her chair to patiently await her “gift” Sandy wipes the traitor tear from her cheek and clears her throat once again looking at Meadow. “Meadow – you and I go WAY BACK! In fact, if it weren’t for you I wouldn’t even be reading Fan Fiction. I started reading Fan Fiction after you reviewed Warmth by Katiebellecullen on Storytime with Meadow. After reading that story, I was completely and irrevocably in Love with Fan Fiction.” Meadow beams proudly! Sandy Continues “And because I know how much you love the Edward in A Life Extraordinary by Lolashoes, I am giving him to you to enjoy today as part of our Entertainment.” Meadow sucks in a breath and looks torn. But Sandy eases her mind “I know Meadow; I have a family and a husband too. So you won’t be able to take him home. But he has promised to make a guest appearance in your fantasies and dreams for the next couple of days and he Promises that you will be satisfied.” Meadow jumps up and runs to Sandy throwing her arms around her and whispers in her ear “Thank you” with tears in both their eyes she returns to her seat.

Sandy wipes her tears and walks over to the stereo and reaches to turn it up, ready to call in the Entertainers. Both Meadow and Snshyne jump up and yell “Wait!!!” Meadow takes Sandy’s arm and gently guides her back to her chair asking her to take a seat. Meadow and Snshyne look down trying to appear innocent. Meadow says “Sandy, we love you” Sandy nods and tries to speak when she is stopped by Snshyne “No! You have said enough, it’s time for us to talk now.” Sandy nods again. Snshyne begins “We wanted to get you the Edward from Unexpected by Ooohlala, but she has taken it off of FanFiction.net due to personal reasons.” Sandy interrupts, or tries to before Meadow puts a finger in front of her lips. Meadow says “Just wait, we aren’t finished. We know who your NEW favorite is and we aren’t calling in the Entertainers until we announce OUR gift to you.” Snshyne can’t stand it and blurts out “Clipped Wings!!!!! We got you the Edward from Clipped Wings and Inked Armor by Hunterhunting!!!!” The look of pure SHOCK takes over Sandy’s face and she licks her lips in anticipation. She breaths “really…?” Both the girls nod and do their best Alice Cullen bouncing on the balls of their feet. Sandy looks torn and Meadow reminds her “We know, the family and the husband…you get to have him today during the Entertainment and then he promises to make several appearances in your dreams and fantasies for the next couple of days.” Sandy still looking a little torn whispers “I’m not sure I can handle him – I’m old remember…” Snshyne and Meadow just smile and turn the music up and yell “Come on in guys…”

I have noticed that I start a lot of my reviews with OMG I Love this story. BUT - OMG I Love This Story!!! Edward is NOT the good guy in this story. Edward is the BAD, BAD, BAD, HOT, BAD guy in this story. He never stopped feeding off his natural food supply. He never went all sweet and vegetarian with his brothers and sisters. He never settled down and went to high school like a good little 17 year old vampire that is really 108. This Edward ENJOYS killing in this story. He enjoys ridding the world of the scum bags that torment and murder innocent people. But one day, he decides he is missing something. One day he decides that he has a hole in his cold dead heart. Hhhhmmmm - wonder what could fill that hole?

Bella never met her perfect (vampire) man in High School. In fact, she fell in love with her best friend and something happened that ROCKED her entire existence. I can't tell you what that was - that would be ruining the story - but I can tell you that Bella has converted her life to the purest and most innocent life she can find. She spends more time in her local church than she does in her own home. She is paying pittance for something, and she has a hole in her heart that she thinks doesn't deserve to ever be filled. She is resigned to pay her pittance for the rest of her miserable life. Until one day a Dark Angel crosses her path - dum, de, dum, dum.....

The first chapter of this story is filled with Church. Now, many of you don't know this about me, but I have attended Bible College. I know my way around a church. I wasn't really looking for a fan fiction about church. But I pushed forward and I read chapter 2 and by then duskwatcher2153 had her hooks all the way into my subconscious. This story is gripping, it is compelling it is going to rock your socks off. Duskwatcher2153 has this gift. I have only read a very few authors that have this same gift, it is the gift to sneak up on you and slam you right to the ground and leave you begging on your knees for an update. The story seems all mild mannered and innocent and then all of a sudden it EXPLODES and you don't know where the little pieces of your mind are going to end up. If you pass by this story because it starts out about church, I am going to be laughing at you for a long time to come. Because this story is NOT about church. I have only read the one lemon - and I can tell you - I am glad Bella took her cross necklace off for that lemon, because it might have caught on flames otherwise.

OK - before we go any further - I am going to assume that you girls know about as much about BDSM as I did when I started reading these stories. I know, I shouldn't assume anything, but in this instance I am thinking that SOMEONE out there would appreciate a little clarification on BDSM before they jump in with both feet. If not, just skip ahead to the actual review. I did a little research and this is what I found:

BDSM = it is a lifestyle that involves Bondage and Discipline / Dominance and Submission / Sadism and Masochism.
There are many facets of BDSM, and not one is more correct or wrong than the other. To most people who are not part of the lifestyle it will come across as kinky sex. But BDSM is NOT about sex. It's about power and control that is consensually given and taken. While a lot of it can be sexual it is not the driving force.
And the first rule of BDSM should always be: Safe, Sane, and Consensual.

Masochism
1. Psychiatry – the condition in which sexual gratification depends on suffering, physical pain, and humiliation.
2. Gratification gained from pain, deprivation, degradation, etc., inflicted or imposed on oneself, either as a result of one’s own actions or the actions of others, esp. the tendency to seek this form of gratification.
3. The act of turning one’s destructive tendencies inward or upon oneself.
4. The tendency to find pleasure in self-denial, submissiveness, etc.

Sadism
1. Psychiatry. Sexual gratification gained through causing pain or degradation to others. Compare to masochism
2. Any enjoyment in being cruel.
3. Extreme cruelty

Actual Review: So, as I have said in the past - I like my Edward a little on the "forceful" side. I wanted to see exactly HOW forceful I liked him so I started reading a few BDSM fics. I have read about 6 of them. Some are quite hard and scary. I am not sure I am ready for full blown BDSM. Some of it is a little more than I am comfortable with. When it comes to sharing and when it comes to boy on boy sex - It is further than I am really wanting to go. So I decided to review Master of my Heart. This story is NOT a HARD CORE and UNCOMFORTABLE BDSM story. It does have BDSM elements. Bella enjoys being dominated - but as the story goes on, we find that Bella isn't about laying down and just letting people walk all over her. Edward enjoys dominating - but as the story goes on we find out just how much he really loves her.

Some of the BDSM stories I have read lean so far on the Sadism side of the Dominate that they forget to stress how much respect and love he has for his submissive. I use the term 'He' losely when I refer to the Dom because I am actually reading on where Bella is the Dom and Edward is the Submissive. But this review is not about that story... This review is about BriannaMarley's awesome story. And don't sell her short folks - she is Awesome. I have truly enjoyed this story from start to finish. I LOVE that Bella is not totally dependent on Edward and I LOVE how much gentleness he showes to her. This is actually the first BDSM story where Bella (the submissive) is able to talk her way out of a spanking - LOL! I'm not sure how true to life that is.

I am not in the BDSM community - and I know that there are lots of things that I know NOTHING about. But I know a good story when I read it and this is one of them. The story is compelling and interresting. It is not just copious sex - there is romance and mystery as well. But - the Lemons are scorching HOT. If you are interested in the BDSM community - please do not depend on Fan Fiction to tell the whole story. Please do your research and talk to people in the community before you do ANYTHING you are not personally comfortably with. This story deals with a previous BDSM relationship gone wrong. There are some dark parts to it - so if you are not over 18, please wait for the next story.

Ok, well, enough pimping of my friend Snshyne - Let's get on with her review shall we?

Emperors of Washington by gallantcorkscrews COMPLETE


The author of Emperors of Washington, gallantcorkscrews, describes the fic like this: Edward is a killer. But it can't be explained away by his vampire nature. He's just a sociopathic, human teenager. CAN I MAKE A LOVE STORY OUT OF THIS? ExB. It's not a graphic killing spree in that she doesn't go on to describe bullets piercing arteries and the sounds of bones crushing, but the author does provide this caution: Warning: I know this sounds like I'm just trying to be edgy- but seriously, strong, strong warning. Think of the movie Natural Born Killers- only Bella won't be killing anybody. Yeah, there you go. Not that this follows that movie AT ALL, but it's in the same vein of amoral, criminal love fest. His killings aren't careless and unjustified, he has his reasons as well as a book full of calculated choices leading his expedition of madness. There are some sadder moments where you see how truly messed up Edward is as he has a hard time relating to normal human emotion. At times, it seems like the only thing keeping him alive is Bella. She does, in fact, make a love story out of this.


Call me crazy, call me depraved, call me whatever you want as long as I get to sidle up to Edward in the basement bedroom of this psychotic thriller. I literally grinned from ear to ear when I got an update on this fic. I can't lie, I was slightly put off by the description at first. When I picked up Emperors of Washington, I was still blissfully (or not so much) unaware of the realm that is mental/psycho/crazy/disturbed-ward. I can now happily say that I am no longer in that realm. The fun thing is Edward is a mess. He's dirty, he's crazy, and he's a virgin. But, in true Edward fashion, he's perfect in all those things and more. How else could he be the focus of a country wide man hunt and remain uncaught? And then there is Bella, not so sweet this time. And every time he slings that Beretta around, I find myself squealing in excitement.

Bella is jaded and uninterested in practically everything. Her life is pretty uninteresting and her friends suck. Somehow, Edward convinces her to run with him. Well, I know how and it's not his dazzling smile or sex hair. You're going to have to read and find out. I have to say that I am an Edward sympathizer to the core and Bella usually irks the piss out of me at some point or usually the entire time. But I can't recall one time where Bella in Emperors of Washington made me want to grab one of Edward's knives from his chest holster and show her the metal.


This fic is now completed and at only sixteen chapters, so luckily you don't have to wait for updates. Sadly for me, this means my life is now remiss. Emperors of Washington Edward weaseled his way into my heart with his innocent need for justice and revenge so I think you should give him a chance to do the same for you. Gallantcorkscrews is super, super sweet. She's very nice, down to earth and responsive. She humbly loves the fans of her stories and has no shame in proclaiming her fandom pride. I've had several exchanges with her, and I have to say that she is so level headed that it's almost scary- in a good way. The chapters are short and to the point, but still riveting. She doesn't have a twilighted thread, but the link to the story is below and she does respond well to PM's
